As a therapy that utilizes touch, Craniosacral Therapy falls under the regulation of most state boards of massage therapy. Craniosacral therapists who are actively certified by The Carol Gray Center for CST Studies, however, may meet the requirements of their state board for exemption from licensing.
The following states currently offer exemption for certain touch therapies:
Colorado – Requires Unlicensed Disclosure
Idaho – Specifically Names CST
Minnesota – Requires Unlicensed Disclosure
Montana – Specifically Names CST
Nevada – Requires Unlicensed Disclosure
New Mexico – Specifically Names CST
Rhode Island – Specifically Names CST
It is the individual certified craniosacral therapist’s responsibility to insure they meet all of the criteria for exemption and practice legally within their state.
